A RETURN TO NATURE

Since inception, the farm, a largely barren piece of land, has been developed by the Dhunjibhoy family who have created a natural oasis on a blank canvas. At the beginning of 2020, Oikos was hired to take the natural restoration of large parcels of land even further and this has already begun. Large number of native trees and shrubs have been carefully selected and planted in order to ensure biodiversity at the farm. This conservation project will continue for many years to further the natural habitat for all species of birds and animals already resident at the farm.

Organic Farming

In keeping with the overall philosophy, the farm has been growing fruits, vegetable and other crops for many years with the use of natural fertilisers.  In 2020, the farm has haired the services of experts to further its farming techniques to ensure a low carbon footprint, zero tilling and a natural fertilisation of the land.  The farm has engaged Mr. Chandrashekhar Bhadsavle who is the inventor of the SRT technique that ensures zero tilling, higher yields and natural soil fertility to progress the farms vision of its future.

Wide Variety

Crop rotation, planting, monitoring of the soil and so on, are now in the able hands of Dr. R. Godbole and her team.  Dr. R. Godbole received her PhD from Freiburg, Germany and has been a scientist at the Heidelburg institute of Plant Sciences.  Through her guidance, the farm has embarked on a new expedition into modern sustainable farming techniques.  The goal is to achieve the highest quality of organic produce sustainably for years to come. The team has planned to grow a variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs and native rice varieties throughout the year.
